Hawa Mahal is situated in Jaipur. It was built in 1799 by Raja Sawai Pratap Singh. It is designed in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god. Its five-floor unique exterior is also akin to the honeycomb of the beehive. It has 953 small windows called jharokhas that are decorated with intricate latticework. In 2005 mahal was renovated after the gap of 50 years. The total cost of renovation was Rs 45679 lac. Entry to the Mahal is from side road to the rear end. Built of red and pink sandstone, the palace is situated on the main thoroughfare in the heart of Jaipur’s business center.
