La Tomatina the food fight festival is held the last Wednesday of August. It takes place in the city Bunol 38 km from Valencia in Spain. Thousands of people from all over the world like to join the ‘World’s Biggest Food Fight’. Tons of over-ripe tomatoes are thrown in the streets with the help of many trucks.
All week there are festivities with music, parades, dancing, and fireworks. The night before the tomato fight, a paella cooking contest takes place. Paella is a famous regional dish.
What to see and do at La Tomatina:
Around 11 am, the first event of the Tomatina begins. The tomatoes are driven into the city center, Plaza del Pueblo. The signal for the beginning of the fight is firing of water cannons.
After exactly one hour, the fighting ends when the water cannons are fired once more to signal the end. At this point, no more tomatoes can be thrown. The cleaning process involves the use of fire trucks.
This package can also be booked without the Tomatina tour on other dates, ask our team for more information.
